Dribbling to the basketball player is like learning to walk for to infant. The ability to dribble provides a freedom on the court that enables each player to effectively apply pressure to the defensive team. Without great handles, the offensive player is limited and defense against that player becomes easy.
Some things to do
1. Learn to dribble with both hands
2. Dribble with your head up so you can see the floor
3.Practice! Practice! Practice!
Drills - Practice These to get started
•Speed dribble (right and left)
•V dribble (right, left and side to side) •V dribble behind the back (side to side)

Becoming a great defensive player is a decision. Many choose to work on offense, but who will choose to work, and work hard on their defense.
It’s not acceptable for anyone to score on me. If they do, I take it personally. I will work and work until I can lock-down everyone I face.
Just as there are principles that define best practices for shooting, there are also principles, when practiced, learned and employed that will enhance your ability to play defense. Become committed to learning defensive principles and practice them until they become second nature.
No one can casually become a great defensive playing. Playing defense is all about effort….every day, every play. To be a gret defensive player, you have to make up your mind that you will go all out every time you step on the court
I’m coming after you. I will inflict my will on you. I will control the flow of your offense and make it difficult for you to score, dribble, pass or move comfortably on the offensive end…..I
will be a pest. Hounding my opponent from beginning to end.

There are many who ascribe to a one size fits all approach to shooting the basketball. At the end of the day, no one will argue with the looks of your shot if you knock them down consistently. There is room for individuality and a sense of what feels right for each baller (the art). There are however, certain basic concepts when it comes to shooting that tend to be found in those who are considered great shooters (the science). Violating these basic concepts usually ends up in an inconsistent shot.
The concepts or principles (These have my spin on them)
The form
1.Hand spread wide 2.Ball resting on fingers and palm with a small amount of air in between ball and palm (see picture) 3.Create an “L” with you arm 4.Elbow should point towards the rim 5.Cock your wrist…..try to make your palm parallel to the ground. The ball now has a good base 6.Stance……foot on shooting side slightly forward. (makes it easier to keep elbow straight) 7.Ball should start low (knees slightly bent) and move into the above mentioned position. As you bring the ball up your body should straighten out as well. As you move into the shot, the ball should be launched from in an upward motion. This will create the needed arc required for a soft touch. 8.As the ball leaves your hand it should roll off your finger tips, creating a slight backwards spin. Your arm should extend high in the air and the wrist moving forward. (More on this later)
